Hi, I’m Jiaying.
My research and writing explore cinema, immersive storytelling, and the often unseen systems that shape how art and media are produced, circulated, and experienced. Currently, I’m a lecturer in Masters of English and Creative Communications at the University of Hong Kong. I teach courses on Asian cinemas and literature.
Alongside my academic work, I founded Singapore Film Database (SGFilmDB), a digital resource documenting feature films made in / made with Singapore from 1965 to the present. The platform also maps the wider film ecology through listings of funding opportunities, organisations, and creative spaces that support filmmaking in Singapore.
I’m also a film programmer for the 37th Singapore International Film Festival, happening from 21 Oct — 1 Nov 2026.
